How to become creative in your photography

Updated: Sep 5, 2022

When you are doing photography and you want to add creativity to your work, there are different thing you got to keep in your mind. Firstly, taking a simple portrait of someone smiling has become very dull and repetitive. Funny, right? When did taking a portrait of someone smiling become so boring? In our current digital world, businesses are looking for innovation and people who always aim for creativity.

To inspire and astonish your audience, you have to constantly think out of the box. For example, who would have thought that using a simple spatula from your kitchen drawer could turn a portrait into a masterpiece! Believe me, the most random tools you can find around you could create an image full of creativity imagination. The shadow of the sun and the holes from your spatula could make your image more lively and appealing!

Also, using the most random things like a small pocket mirror could create a really attractive shot of a person standing towards it. Imagine all you can create using nothing at all! Moving on, you can also be very creative at your photography by choosing different angles. There are countless numbers of angles that can be taken of single shot all in which could create different interpretations and viewpoints. For example, taking the same image one from up top and one from the bottom could different effects to the object you are shooting. It would also reflect on the size of the object or person you are shooting! These are all considered tricks that could give a great impression about you!

In fact, the best thing about creativity is that it does not need planning or organizing! If you have an idea, you try out, it works then well that’s a great success! there is no right or wrong when you want to be creative, it’s just a matter of what you aim to show that you are sure will be attractive and interesting to your audiences. Finally, my personal favorite trick in photography is using the art of double exposure! This is like a whole other world full of imaginations and creative minds.

Using double exposure is now a major hit in the photography business, it showcases a really interesting and artistic portfolio to the photographer! It in fact also shows you are many other things besides a photographer, like a graphic design, an artist, etc. Imagine adding two different and sometimes even irrelevant images to one and creating a whole world of mind blending stories! For example, putting together an image of the of the sea at sunset together with pretty and appealing brown eyes of a male or a female or even a baby, imagine what that can create!

To conclude, being creative at your photography is always and will always be about trying out new things. It really never gets old and does not end. Creativity is limitless, it’s about all you can imagine! So never stop imagining and keep thinking out of the box!
